But, our other big news is that we'll be moving to California by May 1st!! We'll be working for a place called Grocery Outlet. And I do mean WE. This company hires husband and wife teams to be owner/operators of small (10,000 square foot) grocery stores. We'll be training with an established couple in Livermore CA, just east of San Francisco, for about 6 months then we get our own store. The way it works is the company provides the building and all the groceries and we sell them on consignment and then split the profits with them 50/50. The couple we're training with have built their store up from nothing to taking home about 250 grand a year. And they're growing their store in the double digits each year. So Scott's pretty excited. I'm scared to death! Plus we have such a short time to be out there. The girls will be going out with us now and then the boys will come out to live in CA as soon as we get our own store. And the store will almost 100% be in the northern CA area. They have a bunch of stores in Washington and Oregon but they're concentrating their growth in N. CA right now.

Big Changes
So, after being unemployed for seven months, Scott finally has a job! Hooray! Right now he's a dam security guard. And no, I didn't spell that wrong. LOL He's guarding the Glen Canyon Dam from terrorists. Or something. Pretty easy job, just hang around and make sure nobody tries to blow any thing up. Which is silly considering the dam has 360 feet of thickness of solid concrete at the base but hey if they want to pay him, go right ahead! But now you know. If you see any terrorists, tell them not to bother. As you can see from these photos, a human is pretty insignificant compared to the dam. I circled the little guy scaling the face of the dam and then did a close up. Don't know what that poor guy's job was that day. Maybe he was being punished for something. Or he was just bored. Kinda looks like fun.

See, they're pretty little stores. And they encourage owner/operators to hire family members. The girls say they get to have a say on who gets hired-cute guys of course! There are 4 wards and a stake in Livermore so that's pretty exciting. We're just trying to find affordable housing (HAH-as I'm sure Mel and Elise can tell you that housing out there is just plain ridiculous). It's pretty crazy when you start to tell yourself that a tiny apartment that's 950 square feet that's just a little under $2,000 per month is 'reasonable'.
